SShe doesn't know you're watching.
She's somewhere else entirely — tucked inside a world made of pages, lit by the kind of firelight that turns an ordinary evening into something sacred. Reader by Fireplace is a 24×36 inch oil painting that captures what every book lover knows: that reading isn't passive. It's a portal.
Painted in the tradition of the Old Masters — with a single warm light source, deep chiaroscuro shadows, and rich glazing layers built up over weeks — this piece is part of the Reader's Sanctuary collection, a series celebrating the private, almost holy relationship between a person and their stories.
This is the painting for the reader who has ever felt more at home inside a book than anywhere else.
